Tutor

How to use Foldie in a tutor-pupil relationship.

You are a private tutor and, because you are not enrolled in an official school, you and your pupils cannot use Apple’s Schoolwork app.

You have prepared a folder R of resources and assignment documents (PDF, Pages), that your pupils should fill in. You have also prepared folder S with solutions.

You share R via iCloud with all pupils in read-only mode. Each pupil shares an iCloud folder F[i] with you read-only, in which they put their filled-in assignments and you share an iCloud folder C[i] with each pupil, where you will put corrections and correct solutions.

How can Foldie help?

You create one base folder for R and one for S.

For each pupil, you create base folders for F[i] and C[i] and an overlay folder O[i] containing R, S, F[i] and C[i]/corrections and C[i]/solutions. You host the overlay with the name tutor-pupil.

You ask the pupil to create a similar overlay with the same host name (without S). The pupil copies each assignment file over to F[i], keeps the same file name and fills in his or her solution there. Whenever the pupil is done with an assignment, he or she writes you a message and pastes the Foldie link of the solution.

You then open the link, compare the pupil’s solution with the prepared solution, create a correction and put it and the solution in C[i]. Then you copy a link to the correction and put it in a response message to the pupil. The pupil uses the same overlay feature to compare their submitted solution, the correction and the correct solution.
